Howell Makes History with Senko

Irving, TX – Breaking a record is an achievement to be proud of. Breaking it again, the very next day? That’s almost unheard of.

Yamamoto Baits Pro Randy Howell did just that last week at the Bass Pro Tour (BPT) season opener in Monroe, Louisiana. Fishing on the Caney Creek Reservoir last Wednesday, Howell wrestled a 10-pound, 11-ounce lunker into the boat to break the previous BPT Big Bass record.

Howell thought he had caught the fish of a lifetime. As luck would have it, it wasn’t even the fish of the week for the Alabama pro. 24 hours later, while fishing the next day of competition on Bussey Brake Reservoir, Howell hooked into a beautiful 12-pound, 14-ounce bass. After a long battle, Howell was able to lip the fish and claim a new BPT record for the second day in a row. Not to mention, set a new lake record too!

“Conditions got tougher,” said the 2014 Bassmaster Classic winner. “I couldn’t get bites on reaction baits, so I picked up a black and blue Senko. It’s my confidence bait in stained water.”

Breaking records, both competitive and personal, is nothing new for the Senko. “The Senko has helped me win a lot of money in my career, and now it’s produced the biggest bass of my life,” said Howell.
