Meet The New Blog (same As The Old Blog)

After two-plus months away from the Inside Line, I’m back. Thanks to all of you who inquired about if and when Pete Weighs In would return. I’ve known for a while that I would return, but was waiting on a few dominos to fall before I could get back to it.

Now I’m ready to get to writing – at least twice a week for the foreseeable future, more when the mood strikes me.

So what’s going to be different?

Nothing, as far as I know. I’ve talked to the powers-that-be at GYCB and they’ve assured me that I can keep doing what I’ve been doing here for more than a dozen years. That makes me very happy – the previous “administration” gave me a unique forum and now that’s it’s being upheld I don’t intend to squander it.

And yes, I’ve confirmed it – they’re not changing the Senko formula, either.

As long as I have your attention, I want to tell you how excited I am to have Crispin Powley onboard. I’ve known him since about 2007, when he handed me a card that listed his job title plus “All Around Good Guy.” We’ve run into each other at media events, Classics and the like since then, but we’ve never shared a boat or had the opportunity to work together. I hope both of those things change sooner rather than later.

Despite the fact that we’ve sort of been at arm’s-length, he’s consistently lived up to the “All Around Good Guy” advertising. When my wife took a group of female anglers to Kentucky Lake a few years back, he went out of his way to fill them in on the current bite, some likely areas, and stock them up on key baits. He didn’t have to do that, but he did. Most importantly, he knows about fishing. Could have had a career as a pro angler, but chose to ride the business side of the industry instead. He’s worked and fished with many of the best anglers who’ve ever lived, and understands what makes all of us tick.

I’m thankful for my history here and I look forward to lots of good things to come. Change is not always bad and in this case I have no reason to believe that it won’t be very, very good.
