Topwater Tuna with Skeet

Sep 9th 2026

This year, as part of its induction week festivities, the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame is once again holding an auction to benefit scholarship and conservation.

As always, there will be plenty of one-of-a-kind items. Thanks to the generosity of Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge owner Shane Jarvis, just like last year there will be an opportunity to bid on a trip for two to Panama to pop for tuna with Skeet Reese.

The package includes 3 days of fishing, food and drinks, lodging on a luxurious private island and accommodations for one night in Panama City. The only things the winning bidder will need to pay for are international airfare and gratuities. It’s a chance to get this package at a bargain price and to fish with a Hall of Famer.

In fact, the only complaint from last year’s auction winners were that the tuna were too damn big.

Seriously, there were plenty caught (and taken home frozen in a cooler) but it was tough to find any under 100 pounds.

The group also caught cubera snapper, roosterfish, mahi mahi, sailfish and other species.

I’ve been to SFPIL six times. I went for the first time in April of 2021 as a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip and returning has become an addiction. Even if this particular prize isn’t for you or exceeds your budget, check out everything that’s up on the auction block. It’s possible to get a good deal, have a good time and support a good cause all in one click.
