Pavlov's Swab

I don’t mean to make light of anyone’s battles with COVID. After a year of this crap, we all know someone or several someones who’ve suffered more than they should have. Happily, Hanna and I have yet to be directly impacted by the pandemic.
Oddly enough, the testing protocols – while unpleasant – have come to be a reminder of good things to come. We’ve had them before fishing trips to Alaska and Panama, as well as before a great non-fishing trip to Maine. Just about every time someone swabs my brain, I get a pretty finned prize.
The only one I disliked was the one that I had to have pursuant to the CDC’s January 12th directive, in order to come home from Panama. I mean, even though the masked lady dug deeper into my nasal cavity than I ever thought possible, I barely had to leave the pool or my cocktail. What I didn’t like about it is that it was the signal I was leaving a fishing trip rather than heading to one. Three out of four ain’t bad, I suppose.
If this is what it takes to keep my fishing travel regimen semi-intact, bring it on. I have a few brain cells left to give.
