America's Next Top Popper

After another week of topwater exceptionalism in Mexico, I have to decide whether to rehabilitate or euthanize one of the greatest Ricos to ever hit the water, or perhaps just let it slowly fade away under the pressure of a few more big bass.
I know that some of you are adherents of the Yellow Magic, the Splash It, the P70, or some other cup-faced charmer, but to me the Rico is the all-time great, and even within its ranks there are certain special members. This Albino Rio Rico, the larger of the two models, has been stripped of much of its paint, but during low light conditions the bass just couldn’t leave it alone. It may not longer be pretty, but apparently it’s the right kind of ugly.
Luckily, there’s foil underneath, so it’s still shad-like. Nothing seems too amiss. Nevertheless, I don’t know whether to put it on the shelf or to let my money ride. I’m inclined to think that once you get a good topwater going, you should dance with the one that brung ya until it doesn’t float anymore.
Fish fast, cast far, leave a good looking corpse.
