[As I’ve started to go down the swimbait rabbit hole, at least mentally, I’ve been amazed by the creativity and craftsmanship employed by many of the builders and painters. This week I’m going to feature a few of my favorites.]

Go on any swimbait fanatic website or Facebook group and you can’t go five posts without seeing someone mention “Pizz” swimbaits. I’m not sure where the name comes from, and I haven’t been convinced to fish one yet. Even if I were to be convinced, there’s no guarantee that I could find one for sale, as all SKUs seem to be perpetually sold out.

Nevertheless, I’ve been amazed by their paint jobs, everything from hyper-realistic shad patterns to their bubblegum “Bazooka Joe” models.

My favorite so far, however, is those double-trout glide bait. It’s what an Alabama Rig wants to be when it grows up.

If trout-on-trout violence is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
